Parties
We are now offering a new service to our customers where they can pack the used tableware in a box and send it back to us. We will dispose of it in a commercial composting facility free of charge.
In order to create a minimal amount of landfill waste for your party while still using disposable tableware there are a number of steps you need be aware of.
Here is a step by step guide of what to know:
- Ensure the tableware is recyclable, commercially compostable or home compostable. A break down of what tableware belongs in which category features below.
- If your plates feature food scraps or are stained with sauce or grease then do not place them in the recycle bin, opt for the home compost or green bin.
- Find out if your local council will allow you to dispose of the recyclable/compostable tableware in their green bins. See if your council makes the list below. If unsure give them a call.
- We repackage our tableware in brown paper bags which are suitable for the home compost/recycle bin. If you order larger packs they come in their original soft plastic packaging. Ensure your soft plastic waste makes it way to a RedCycle Bin (found outside most Coles supermarkets) or use the Terracycle plastic waste service.
- Sort through your party waste ensuring it is not contaminated - i.e no non-compostables in the composting stream and no non-recyclables in the recycling stream.
- If your council doesn't allow your party tableware waste in their green and/or yellow bin find a commerical composter close by or purchase our waste pick up service here (costs apply - we are able to access cheaper shipping) and deliver it to us where we will dispose of it in a commercial composting facility.
Larger Events
We now offer compostable waste solutions for parties and large events which will help ensure your event is as green as possible. When all vendors at an event purchase the compostable tableware and hire our team to dispose of it then the event can be branded "A Down To Earth Event" - as all possible disposable waste will have been turned into compost.
You are able to hire our services (bin covers and waste pick up) for large events (currently available in Adelaide only).
